All players whether new or returning are required to complete, at the start of each season, an Oxford Harlequins Minis and Juniors membership form (download a PDF copy here or complete the online form here) and pay the appropriate subscription amount. Until both are received, the player concerned is not considered a member of the club and may not be covered by the club’s RFU insurance. There is a 28 day period of grace in which players new to rugby may try out the sport before deciding whether to join or not. During this period, such players ARE covered by the RFU’s insurance. Players new to rugby also (in addition) need to complete the RFU registration form - details included on this form will be added to the RFU’s Rugby First database to generate the player’s unique RFU ID number.
We work through the RFU recommended Continuum and train through the necessary skills to enable each age group to adapt to the new season of rugby. Each year introduces new skills and expands the game progressively and safely.
Competitive matches begin in October with matches against other teams in the county as well as attending some rugby festival competitions; this is a great opportunity to play teams from other counties. Some of the older age groups may also go further afield and 'tour' for a long weekend.
Youth rugby remains one of the fastest growing sports in the UK and we are currently working with London Wasps, the top Guinness Premiership Rugby Club who play at Adams Park in High Wycombe. We are now a Community Partner Club which gives us fantastic opportunities to work alongside Wasps and enable us to secure discounts for match day tickets. Keep an eye on the website and club notice boards for updates.
Come along and join a friendly (but competitive) youth rugby club.
