December Oxford Rugby Partnership eHack

The December 2010 version of the Oxford Rugby Partnership e-Hack is here: http://www.ehack.co.uk/oxford

This edition includes an article on the Oxford harlequins Minis and Juniors.

Christmas party cancelled

humbugAlas, given the snow and the sheer quantity of it we have a problem getting supplies in place for tomorrow's Christmas party plus, more importantly, the potential effort and risk involved for players and parents getting to the club, we have therefore and with regret decided to call off the Christmas party on Sunday 19th December.

But with best wishes at Christmas....

The club would like to wish all its players, their parents and supporters a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Marston Ferry pitches closed

Its probably no surprise we have decided to close the pitches this weekend at Marston Ferry for ALL matches and training.

Christmas drinks and pies on 19 December...

A date for your diaries: 19 December, 11.30am onwards and as training finishes: festive drinks, mince pies and nibbles plus a visit by Santa, a Scottish rugby international and a lucky dip. What better way to celebrate the start of the week before the Christmas week?

Looking at the weather forecast, some matches and training might be doubtful but please come on down anyway and spend a few hours relaxing before the Christmas season in seriousness and fun truely begins.

Claim your fifteen minutes of fame

It takes less than 15 minutes, can be on the internet within hours and you usually feel a whole lot better...

Aeronautical origami 1, Frost nil

No weather forecasts predicted a -5C frost in the early hours of Sunday morning and the optimism of Saturday, when the pitches squelched rather than clattered, drifted slowly away like breath on a winter’s morning.

Weather takes its toll on training and fixtures

Following the complete wipe out of all fixtures last weekend due to the weather, the forecast is not providing much optimism for the coming weekend. A decision on whether to proceed with home matches will be made by Saturday morning at the latest (UPDATE 02/12: given the >0C forecast for Saturday and Sunday, the final decision will be made on Saturday afternoon).

For the Minis’ away fixture at Henley on Sunday 5th December, the decision will obviously lie with Henley (UPDATE 02/12: Henley are inspecting their pitches on Friday afternoon and will make their final decision then). Should the fixture be cancelled, each age group will be informed as quickly as possible so please check emails, texts and the M&Js website over the weekend and especially before setting off.
IMG_0245When the weather closes in and fixtures and training are at risk, the club will endeavour to make a decision on whether to close the Marston Ferry pitches as early as possible and always with the welfare of players as its primary concern. Should the pitches be deemed unplayable, the decision will be binding across ALL age groups and each age group will be responsible for informing its players; the M&Js website will also endeavour to reflect the situation as soon as possible.

If in doubt, please contact the appropriate age group coach.
