U11s vs Richmond and Oxford in season finale

The match itself against the Richmond tour team was very closely fought. In the first half Quins dominated putting together some good interplay between the forwards and backs but, with some excellent defensive work, the Richmond boys managed to keep our boys out.
Something clearly happened at half-time since the Richmond team seemed to move into a different gear. After a succession of scrums on the Quins line Richmond finally managed to score. They followed this quickly with a break in which several tackles were missed to score a second. Our boys battled valiantly (not giving up is one of their real strengths) to make a score of their own, with some good breaks, but couldn't quite get through the Richmond defence ...and so the match ended 10-0 to Richmond. Whilst it was slightly disappointing to end the season with a loss, the overriding feeling was one of pride since the boys had played another match to a high standard and shown themselves more than capable of competing with one of the London clubs....
Richmond then had a 10 minute break and, clearly tired from their match with us, lost 3-1 to a strong running Oxford team.

Finally, at the post match barbecue many of the boys also enjoyed the opportunity to have their photo taken with the ever obliging Lawrence Dallaglio (who was in the role of one of the Dad's on tour with the U9s) ...which helped make the whole day a very suitable finale!
