Harlequins U12 try-fest at Banbury fails to secure silverware

Harlequins started the tournament in style, piling up tries like Tory votes in Surrey in their first three matches, all of which were won by the maximum score line of six tries to nil before the end of normal time. Unfortunately, the team failed to contest the key marginals and, in an object lesson to those who aspire to power, whether in rugby or in any other context, ended up coming second in the Plate Final by two tries to one.

U7s win some and lose some against Bicester

Bicester had good numbers for an away fixture and luckily the Oxford Harlequins U7s numbers have been growing recently so we were able to hold field two teams each with plenty of subs. The boys were eager to play a match after such a long spell of indoor training and put on some good rugby. Our newest players got a chance to play their first competitive fixture and acquitted themselves well, narrowly losing to a good Bicester side. The more experienced players, split into two mixed sides, played well considering the long break and comfortably won both their matches.

U15s reach Quarter finals at Bletchley 7s

Bletchley 7s Tournament.

In bad weather conditions the U15s managed a 5-5 draw against Olney in their first match. They then picked things up and started playing some quality rugby, in their next 4 matches did not have a score against them, winning all games convincingly and going through to the quarter final (at this stage the Harlequins U15s were placed as tournament favourites by the referees). After quite a long break they played their quarter final and unfortunately did not play as well as in the pool matches and lost 19-7.

This was a good result considering there were 24 teams in the competition.

Credit to all the players who braved the elements and played some great rugby and to our travelling supporters including Harry's dad who provided a heated tent for the lads.

We will be entering in future tournaments, hopefully with 2 teams so we can give all players a taste of 7s.
